What are Mapillary Missions?
Mapillary Missions is a tool that helps to find areas where Mapillary coverage is missing or needs an update. The Missions view on the Mapillary iOS app shows urban areas divided into smaller missions. You can easily select the mission and start capturing. You can view available missions on the map or the list view in your city. In the list view, you can view the closest missions from your current location.
Each mission has a target number of images to be completed. The mission will be marked as completed, once you capture required images in this mission
How do I start to capture with Mapillary Missions?
- Go to the Mission view
- Select a Mission
- Capture images in the area
- Upload the images
Go to the Mission view
To start capturing with Mapillary Missions, go to the Mission view on your Mapillary iOS app and preview available missions in your city. You can take a look at the missions on the map or the list view.
Select a Mission
You can select the Missions either from the map or the list view. In the map view, select the mission by tapping the mission on the map. You can also select a mission from the list view. You will see more details about the selected mission; mission status, target number of images and total road length.
Capture images in the area
When you tap “Start capture”, you will see the Capture view and can start capturing. Make sure to position the phone horizontally. The app will automatically capture images as you move forward within and outside of the mission area. Capture all roads in your mission and reach the target number of images in the mission.
Upload the images
When you have captured all roads and the target number of images, you need to upload the images that you have captured to the Mapillary platform. Navigate to the Upload tab and tap the upload button. Please make sure to be connected to Wi-Fi to upload your images. Once you reach target images, the mission status will be changed to the Completed.
