Mapillary brings together a global network of contributors who want to make the world accessible to everyone by visualizing the world and building better maps. We want everyone to be able to both use our data and contribute to our platform. In order to accomplish this, we rely on contributions of captured imagery from our valued community members and partner organizations to contribute data.
Once an individual or organization captures images, they are uploaded to Mapillary servers. We then use computer vision to extract a vast amount of data from images. Computer vision allows us to locate and identify different objects in the images, such as buildings, pedestrians, cars, and more.
The data extracted from the images helps people all over the world make better maps, create a safer traffic environment, develop our cities, visualize places and stories, and help people in vulnerable places.
