Mapillary is the street-level imagery platform by Meta that scales and automates mapping using collaboration, cameras, and computer vision. Mapillary combines images from any camera into a visualization of the world that generates map data for improve maps. Mapillary’s tools enable anyone to collect, share, and use street-level images.
Our approach to openness
At Meta, we believe that collaboration is the most effective way to map the world. This is why OpenStreetMap forms a critical part of our mapping strategy and why we make tools such as RapiD Editor and datasets such as the Daylight Map Distribution available publicly. Mapillary also plays a key role, with public street-level imagery allowing cyclists to map bicycle infrastructure, GIS officers to inventory traffic signs, The World Bank to improve disaster preparedness, and much more. All imagery on Mapillary is publicly available through our web app and API.
Today, people and organizations all over the world have contributed over a billion images toward Mapillary's mission of helping people understand the world's places through images and making this data available. You can read more about our approach to openness here.
