Mapping is the making of maps. Mapillary doesn’t make maps, but the images you contribute are displayed on a map (virtually any map, and the Mapillary viewer has a number to choose from) and provide great input for other actors to make precise, high-detailed maps (such as OpenStreetMap). The process of mapping with help of (geotagged) images is called photo mapping.
